Smoked Lemonade – A secret weapon for your next outdoor event

Smoked Lemonade: The Star-Spangled Sip of Summer!

    Festive Smoked Lemonade

Get ready to light up your holiday cookout with the most refreshing, smoky twist on a classic! This isn’t your grandma’s lemonade – we’re firing up the grill to infuse these lemons with a flavor that’ll have everyone saying, “Ooh-ahh!”

    Ingredients:

    • 12 large lemons
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (plus extra for coating)
    • 3 cups water
    • Optional: 1 cup vodka or bourbon (for the grown-up grillers!)
    • Festive Garnishes: Fresh mint sprigs, lemon slices, blueberries, raspberries

    Equipment:

    • Grill (gas, charcoal, or pellet)
    • Small dish
    • Juicer
    • Large pitcher

    Instructions:

    1. Prep the Lemons: Cut each lemon in half. In a small dish, add sugar. Dip the cut side of each lemon into the sugar, coating it well.
    2. Smoke ‘Em! Preheat your grill to medium heat (around 350°F). Place the sugared lemons cut-side down on the grill grates. Grill for 5-7 minutes, or until the sugar is caramelized and you see those beautiful grill marks. Remove from the grill and let them cool slightly.
    3. Juice It Up: Once the lemons are cool enough to handle, juice them into a large pitcher.
    4. Mix & Mingle: Add the water to the pitcher and stir until the sugar is dissolved. If you’re feeling festive, add the vodka or bourbon!
    5. Chill Out: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
    6. Serve with Flair! Pour over ice, garnish with mint, lemon slices, and a few blueberries or raspberries for that patriotic pop!

Festive Tip: For an extra touch of holiday magic, freeze some blueberries and raspberries into ice cubes! They’ll keep your lemonade chilled and add a burst of color.

    Make it a Mocktail Masterpiece!

Want a kid-friendly version? Skip the alcohol and add a splash of sparkling cider or club soda for some fizz!

    Smoky Lemonade Variations:

    • Berry Blast: Add muddled strawberries or blackberries to the pitcher.
    • Spicy Citrus: Add a few slices of jalapeño to the grill along with the lemons for a kick!
    • Herby Heaven: Infuse your simple syrup with rosemary or thyme for a sophisticated twist.

This Smoked Lemonade is guaranteed to be a hit at your holiday cookout. It’s refreshing, flavorful, and has that special smoky something that makes it unforgettable. Cheers to a happy and delicious holiday!
